Indigenous Leadership is a relational, holistic, community-based model that intends to bring about foundational change in disadvantaged, low-income neighborhoods through the raising of indigenous leaders. Its vision is to empower youth to change their community by helping them become positive role models. By employing the Indigenous Leadership model, DYFC maintains a tight neighborhood focus and attempts to reach a critical mass of youth from the community so that they eventually become neighborhood assets and leaders.
