YFC Mentoring is one adult spending one hour a week with one young person. All mentors receive a 3-hour training program and have a criminal background check. We adhere to highest published standards of the Delaware Mentoring Council.
We need Mentors
Mentoring happens two ways at YFC: through one of our youth centers, or in a public school through our partnership with Creative Mentoring. We have a list of young people waiting for someone to be their mentor. If you or someone you know would be interested in investing just one hour a week to make a change in the life of a young person please call the YFC office today to find out about upcoming training sessions.
Alberta was a quiet and shy 14 year old girl when "Miss Justine" became her mentor. She still sucked her thumb and giggled instead of spoke whenever anyone talked to her, but she met Justine every week for four years. Through their relationship, Alberta started attending church, set goals for her life and career and today is studying Culinary Arts. When Alberta met her father for the first tim in her life - in 2006 - she asked Justine to be there with her.
Alberta says, "She has helped me to get to know the Lord better, and she means so much to me. She will always have a special place in my heart, and I love her so much."
